The Three Major Elements of a Launch Event

Have you recently attended a formal event, and found yourself talking about the experience non-stop? Be it a launch, or welcome party for an important person in your organization or even something as small as a get-together for the whole staff. No matter how big or cozy the event, serious work by a group of serious-minded individuals takes place behind the scenes to ensure its absolute success.

Planning an event requires creativity. You would do well to ask the all-important question: what have people done that can be done differently? What challenges did they face and how can you overcome them?

Launch events spotlighting a brand or product are pivotal, we’ll start from there. As simply as possible, we’ll attempt to explore three things to consider when planning a launch event.

Opening Performance:

The opening performance is a preamble, an event starter that usually features some sort of entertainment to warm up the audience for the main set of activities. It usually sets the atmosphere to welcome guests and have them feel relaxed.

Having studied your audience, your opening performance can be anything from a melodic performance by a saxophonist, to a ballet dance or acrobatic displays or even a live band performance. It all depends on what is most appropriate and appealing to the client/audience.

Unveil Sequence:

This is the climax of it all. As the word implies, unveil means to reveal or uncover something for the first time. Sometimes, the client might provide some form of direction to how this is achieved. Your job as the event planner is to either generate an out-of-the-box idea or what is always golden – improve on an idea that is familiar but executed in a unique way.

If it was common practice to pull down or pull aside the curtains on stage for the big reveal, make it better. If causing the product to descend from above or emerge from beneath the floor has been done, reinvent it. An unveil or the sequence preceding it must be unique.

Closing Performance

The closing performance should be exciting, one that would cause the audience to linger for a little longer, one that they will not forget in a hurry. Always bear in mind that an exciting start should always lead to an exciting finish. Planners tend to drop the ball in this regard but remember, all is well that ends well.

Ideally, a proper launch event should have these three key things. It will help to infuse some structure into your event flow.

… Till will stream your way next time; we remain the innovation powerhouse.
